Summer is officially upon us and July 4th is just days away. What better way to enjoy it than by walking along one of South Carolina’s numerous, beautiful, white sand beaches? Along your walk, you may experience the changing of the tides or spot a number of local wildlife such as sandpipers, ibis, dolphins, starfish, sand dollars, jellyfish or horseshoe crabs. Luckily, you can now do this on one of the best beaches in the country.

Recently, Southern Living released a list of its readers picks for the . Of course, several South Carolina beaches graced the catalog. Of the 15 beaches selected, six hail from the Palmetto State.



These beaches include: Folly Beach Kiawah Island North Myrtle Beach Isle of Palms Hilton Head Island Edisto Island Aside from North Myrtle Beach, which can be found in the state’s Pee Dee , the remaining five beaches can all be found in the Lowcountry, which has won accolades for its unique beauty. The full list compiled from the magazine’s reader’s includes these 15 southern beaches: Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, Alabama Outer Banks, North Carolina Folly Beach, South Carolina Sanibel Island, Florida Oak Island, North Carolina Kiawah Island, South Carolina Pensacola, Florida North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Isle of Palms, South Carolina Destin, Florida Hilton Head Island, South Carolina Anna Maria Island, Florida Tybee Island, Georgia Edisto Island, South Carolina St. George Island, Florida.
