Exciting news from Sikkim! For the first time, Sanglaphu Lake in the Mangan district is welcoming visitors. This high-altitude lake, previously inaccessible to tourists, is now open to the public, offering a unique opportunity to explore the breathtaking beauty of the region. Set at an astonishing altitude of 5,080 meters (16,670 feet) near Yumesamdong (Zero Point) in Lachung, Sanglaphu Lake promises an unparalleled experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

The inauguration of Sanglaphu Lake, also known as the “Great Lake,” marked a significant event in the region’s history. Revered by locals for its immense religious significance, the lake is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and pristine wilderness, exuding serenity and tranquility. The opening ceremony was a grand affair, with prayers conducted by monks from the Samten Choling Monastery in Lachung.

The lush greenery, serene lakes, and the ubiquitous presence of the Indian military, the Border Roads Organization (BRO), and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were awe-inspiring. These dedicated personnel maintain the roads and ensure safety in all weather conditions, an effort deserving immense appreciation. The group included a fellow motorcycle enthusiast from Ahmedabad, Abhishek Mehta, who finds biking a refreshing escape from his busy court schedule.

Despite weather-related schedule conflicts preventing actors Randeep Hooda and R. Madhavan from joining, their spirit was felt throughout the journey. Sheeta.
