Sandra Hudesman Michel, 89, born September 2, 1934, to Maurice and Sylvia Hudesman, died on June 15, 2024, at Springside Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past few months. Sandra graduated in 1951 from Lefayette High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.
, and received her Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., in 1955. She received her master’s degrees from New York University and Queens College.
Sandra retired in 1990 from teaching in the New York City school system. Sandra felt blessed by her higher power for the many miracles and gifts brought to her life. Most of all, she was blessed by her wonderful, beautiful George who shared her journey for 30 years.
They had a relationship of commitment, loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love. She married George Michel on April 1, 1979, and he predeceased her on July 12, 2006. Sandra was dedicated to children of all ages and was a lifetime advocate for their wellbeing.
She loved the beautiful Berkshires, the changes of the seasons, birds, flowers, and mountains. Her later years were spent in the exciting Town of Northampton, where she could pursue her renewed interest in politics and social responsibility. Her passions were for knitting, baking chocolate chip cookies, reading, theater, museums, dance, and doing service for her fellows.
Sandra is survived by her children, Susan Weisler and Steven Salzman, and her grandchildren, Lea, Sydney, Joel, and Michael. Her life was deeply enriched by her many devoted.
