Patna: A man was arrested in Saharsa district on Sunday for allegedly killing his 25-year-old wife with an intention to marry her sister. Yadav will be produced in the local court on Monday. According to police, accused Nilesh Yadav, a resident of Bakhri village under Sour Bazar police station area, had initially lodged a complaint, claiming that his wife Nepul Devi was killed by some unidentified miscreants late on Saturday night.

Yadav told the police in his complaint that they, along with their three-year-old son, were on their way back to Bakhri from Nepul’s parental home in Bhaddi village when at least five criminals intercepted them and beat them up, besides slitting the woman’s throat. Saharsa superintendent of police Himanshu Kumar said at first glance, it appeared that the woman was murdered with a sharp weapon. “A team was formed under sadar subdivisional police officer Alok Kumar, which included officers of Sour Bazar and Patarghat police stations, and the district intelligence unit personnel, to probe into the murder .
