Rob Heffernan's favourite place to holiday in Ireland will always be his home county of Cork. He has great memories of travelling around the rebel county, from his trips to Youghal as a child to moving into the 5* Castlemartyr resort following his World Championship win. The former Olympian loves his food and Irish food will always come first for him.

"I did a gig there recently and it brought all the memories back to me. The whole backdrop is beautiful.
It’s only less than 30 minutes away from where I live in Cork. It’s a real hidden gem." He added: "I also love going to Kerry and over the years I’ve stayed in Sneem and Dingle.
They’re beautiful. Sligo is also a great spot and the beaches there are amazing. We spent a week staying in a friend’s mobile home up there.
"We took the time to relax because the sea and the walks are lovely. It’s a different kind of culture to Cork, so it really feels like you’re away. West Cork is also beautiful.
" Rob and his family used to go to Youghal every year when he was growing up. He said: "We owned a mobile home in Redbarn. We spent the whole summer on the beach and it was a very simple life.
