Manchester clearly holds a special place in the hearts of The Killers. The Las Vegas band were named after the fictional group from New Order’s music video of 2001 hit Crystal. Frontman Brandon Flowers even often refers to the city as his "musical home.

Indie-rock icons Travis warm up the packed crowd with a set full of hits and infectious energy from their 34-year back catalogue. An emotional version of Closer sees the whole arena lit up as the brilliant set closer Why Does It Always Rain on Me causes the enthusiastic audience to jump in unison.

Somebody Told Me and Spaceman follows as Flowers dressed in a glittering suit bounds around the stage to work the crowd into an early frenzy.

It’s now an incredible 20 years since they released their seminal debut album Hot F.
