LANGDON, N.D. — The Rendezvous Region Tourism Council is creating a trail of murals visitors can follow in northeast North Dakota.

Langdon and Park River are next on the list. Celebrations to kick off the start of the artists’ work will be held June 25 and 26 for Langdon and Park River, respectively, Council President Angelle French said. Langdon’s will take place at 817 Third St.

on the south side of the FM Mall building, and Park River’s will be at 411 Briggs Ave. S. on the south side of the Wild Magnolias building.

Both events will begin at 4:30 p.m. “We are going to celebrate the vision and talk about what the idea was behind the mural,” she said.

The two murals follow ones already painted in Drayton and Walhalla, created in an effort to increase tourism and vibrancy in the region, French said. She would like to create a trail of them and craft a brochure for visitors to follow, stopping at each spot. The murals all vary in imagery to represent their communities.

Langdon’s will be the city’s name in large block letters, filled with imagery representing the area, such as the sign of the Roxy Theatre. Park River’s will be a clutch of magnolias, fitting with the name of the beauty salon upon which it will be painted. The designs were chosen through collaboration with their respective communities, French said, and will be painted by local artists.

Hilary Nowatzki will be painting Langdon’s, and Sarah Hultin will be painting Park River’s. ADVERTISEMENT No.
