Welcome to Seven in Seven, where we look at shows coming to the region over the next week. As always, whether your musical tastes are rock ’n’ roll, jazz, heavy metal, R&B, singer-songwriter or indie, there will always be something to check out. Here are seven of the best on the docket for the week of July 5: US Rails — Saturday at 118 North, Wayne Originally formed in Philly but now with its members spread across the country and into Europe, US Rails is finally back on a path that was blocked by the pandemic in 2020, right as they were in Germany to support the then new LP “Mile by Mile.

” Showing their resilience, the group is back to letting their rock ’n’ roll horses run free, steeped in the vintage sounds of R&B along with a foundation of rock and a healthy dose of vocal harmonies. A well-seasoned live act, US Rails has spent the better part of their lives playing masterful, iconic sounding rock ’n’ roll in the shadows of the giants but continue to create, evolve, persist and have a lot of laughs making music along the way. Holiday — Saturday at City Winery Main Stage The son of a preacher, R&B/hip hop singer J. Holiday was born with a name derived from a biblical figure in Nahum Grymes. A devotee of Boyz II Men, Tupac Shakur and Jodeci records, he skipped college and headed straight to studios where he began recording demo tapes.

His first LP as J. Holiday, “Back of My Lac’,” debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and No.
