Article content Actor has one heck of a commute these days. For the past few months, the English actor has been travelling back and forth from London to , where he is the Apple TV+ series Firebug. “Tell me about it,” said Spall, when asked about using the word ‘commute’ to describe his crazy travel schedule.

“I’ve got three kids at home and so, if I’ve got one day shooting, I just go over (to and do it and then fly back and hang out with the kids as much as I can. “In the last month I’ve done three trips out to Vancouver from the U.K.



, which is pretty brutal.” But is quick to point out our West Coast spring has made the jet lag a little more palatable. “I was there for the beautiful cherry blossoms, down at David Lam Park, which was a real highlight of the year,” said Spall.

“I’ve Vancouver four or five times over the last 10 years of my career. I’m a big fan of your city.” Those gigs included the feature films The BFG and The Life of Pi.

Spall still has another two and a half months of “commuting” between London and Vancouver. But, for this interview, he was back in the U.K.

and chatting over Zoom about the May 22 premiere of season four of the hit Apple TV+ series Trying. Spall was joined in the conversation with his co-star and real-life partner . The pair became a couple about 18 months ago and are now expecting their first child this summer.
