Radio 3's breakfast show will be broadcast from five North East beauty spots ahead of a weekend of BBC Proms performances at The Glasshouse in Gateshead . Petroc Trelawny will present a week of live broadcasts exploring the North East's nature, culture and history. The show will stop at the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Vindolanda Roman Fort, The Bowes Museum, Durham Cathedral and Tynemouth Priory and Castle.

This will be followed by a weekend of BBC Proms performances at The Glasshouse in Gateshead on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. Along the way, listeners will hear about Lindisfarne Castle, the ancient fortress transformed into a holiday home by architect Edwin Lutyens, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall , and the recently-restored musical automaton at The Bowes Museum, the famous Silver Swan .
