A crowd of more than 100 people came out to Queensbury Cigar & Pipe in honor of the business’ milestone. “It's been amazing. It’s been quite a journey,” owner Kathleen Kelly said from her store at 1036 State Route 9.
“When I started 30 years ago, getting into coffee and then cigars, it was just too seasonal in Lake George, so I moved down to Queensbury, probably like 20 years ago. I was in a plaza across the street for a while until I made my way here. And this is great for people who want to smoke cigars, it gives them a great space.
” Kelly was congratulated by many as she was recently elected as President of the New York Tobacconist Association. She is also known by many in the cigar industry as she is on the Board of Directors for the Premium Cigar Association. She also founded the Women of the Premium Cigar Association to help women network and advocate in the cigar and pipe industry.
“Surprisingly, there are a lot of women in the cigar industry, but people don’t realize that,” Kelly said. “You’re not used to seeing a female cigar shop owner, so I like to get the word out there. A lot of premium cigars, they are all hand-rolled, and a lot of the rollers, they are women that make the cigars.
” Located on Route 9 just south of Round Pond Road, Queensbury Cigar & Pipe offers guests a variety of unique and popular cigars, tobacco, pipes and accessories as a retail store, a smoking lounge, a VIP members’ smoking room and a large outdoor patio space. Ke.
