The hotel near Mullion in Cornwall has donated funds towards the college’s Peru expedition, which is scheduled for July 19. As part of its community engagement initiative, the hotel has also hosted career talks and educational visits for students. The hotel's significant donation will go towards coach travel for 26 students, aged 15 to 18, to the airport for their trip to Peru.

The four-week expedition, in conjunction with Camp International, will immerse the students in Peru's vibrant culture and engage them in projects that provide sustainable support in rural areas. A high point of the expedition will be a trek to the historical Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. Assistant headteacher of Helston Community College, Mel Mugford, said: "The financial contribution from Polurrian on the Lizard towards our Peru expedition has made a significant impact, helping to allow our students to gain unique experiences, and we wish to thank them.



"The trip aims to foster a spirit of adventure and learning beyond the classroom, providing students with an invaluable opportunity to explore different cultures, enhance their global awareness and develop life skills." In addition to monetary support, over the summer term, Polurrian on the Lizard held a series of career talks at the college and organised educational visits to the hotel. The talks offered students guidance on the curriculum subjects that can lead to various career paths.
