Created following the Westminster boundary review of 2023, it comprises parts of the former Perth and North Perthshire and Ochil and South Perthshire seats, both of which were won by the SNP in 2019 with the Conservatives in second place.
The constituency comprises the Perth and Kinross Council wards of Almond and Earn, Kinross-shire, Strathearn, part of Strathallan (Dunning and Muthil), and Strathtay from the former Ochil and South Perthshire constituency and Carse of Gowrie, Perth City Centre, Perth City North, Perth City South and Strathmore from the former Perth and North Perthshire constituency. Six candidates are standing: Conservative, Labour, Independent, Liberal Democrat, SNP, and Reform UK. Based on notional results from 2019 the polling organisation YouGov puts the SNP vote at 41 per cent, the Conservatives at 26, Labour at 20, Reform 7, Liberal Democrat 5, and other at one per cent.
