Monday, June 17, 2024 As summer reaches its peak in California, the state is grappling with two dangerous wildfires that have forced evacuations and pose a serious threat to both residents and tourists. The Post Fire in Los Angeles County and the Point Fire in Sonoma County have together burned nearly 16,000 acres, disrupting lives and impacting popular tourist attractions. Starting Saturday afternoon in Gorman, a small community in northwestern Los Angeles County , the Post Fire has rapidly expanded, burning through 15,000 acres of land.

The natural holocaust , which remains only 8% contained as of Monday morning, has triggered large-scale evacuations and put additional pressure on firefighting resources across the state. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) has deployed over 400 personnel, 70 engines, and two bulldozers to combat the flames. Air support has been critical, with numerous firefighting air tankers from across California conducting suppression missions when conditions permit.



Given the fire’s proximity to populated areas and major routes, authorities have issued evacuation orders and warnings for several regions. Approximately 1,200 people were evacuated from Hungry Valley Park, a significant state park, on Saturday. As the fire threatens the area west of Interstate 5 between P yramid Lake and Gorman , and south of Pyramid Lake between Old Ridge Route and the Los Angeles County line, officials have set up evacuation centers and .
