For that, The Saratogian turned to Amy Nicholas, owner and founder of Amy Nicholas Makeup Artistry. The Stillwater native is a Professional Freelance Makeup Artist & Bridal Makeup Specialist. The self-taught makeup artist has applied herself to applying makeup since 2013.

Nicholas’s passion dates back to high school and took off in college. “I went to SUNY Oneonta, and I graduated there in 2013. I was always going to my classes doing a full face of makeup and all of the girls in my classes were always like, ‘Could you do my makeup before I go out tonight?’ I’m like, sure, of course, come into my dorm or come into my apartment,” Nicholas remarked on her start.

“Throughout my years of being in college, I would always practice on random people in my class. When I graduated and worked full-time at an insurance agency, I was like, I still wanna do makeup, I’m still passionate about this, so I actually worked at Sephora for two and a half years and then when I was working there I’d always get clients that would say, ‘can you do my wedding?'” Nicholas added. Once she built up her clientele list at Sephora, Nicholas .
