Paul O'Grady 's husband Andre Portasio has reportedly "lost his battle with neighbours" to turn an outbuilding at his farmhouse into a house three times bigger. Andre is understood to have inherited the couple's home in Kent , which is said to be worth £3 million, following Paul's death last year . It's been reported that TV presenter Paul had previously been approved for a groundkeeper's outbuilding, gym and dance studio on the estate.
Following his death, Andre is said to have wanted to turn the outbuilding, which has been described as a "security hut," into a separate two-bedroom house. He reportedly applied to the local council for a "change of use" of the lodge, which is said to have an office, kitchen and shower. It was previously claimed that environmentalists weren't keen on the idea .
And it's now been claimed that some locals in the area weren't impressed with the plans, said to have included a detached garage, for the building. According to the Sun , Andre has "lost his battle with neighbours" to turn the outbuilding into a separate house. He's said to have three months to appeal against the decision by the council.
The outlet reports that in a letter of objection, a neighbour said: "The present application is in direct contravention of the original planning conditions and in my view amounts to an attempt to gain planning permission for a significant residential development by the back door, and one which will no doubt be sold on separately to the main building.
