MIDDLETOWN – Patricia A. (Coffey) O’Leary, 95, formerly of Heritage Village, Southbury, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 29, 2024, surrounded by her beloved children, at Wadsworth Glen Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 74 years, Joseph M.

O’Leary. Patricia was born on Sept. 25, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.



Y., the daughter of Cornelius and Catherine (Wieboldt) Coffey. Patricia graduated from St.

Aloysius High School in Jersey City, N.J. She worked for many years as the secretary of health and physical education for the Waterbury Public School System.

She was an active parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterbury and Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. Pat was gifted by God with a fabulous singing voice and natural stage presence. She began performing at an early age.

She performed as a soloist, as a member of a professional quartet, and in large choruses. Pat and her husband Joe shared a passion for music. They enjoyed performing together in a variety of community theater productions and were well known for their beautiful duets.

Pat’s faith was an integral part of her life, giving her the strength to face many challenges, especially the long illnesses and deaths of two of her children. Pat was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest pleasure of all was spending time with her family.
