Still flying under the radar, but gaining in popularity among the most discerning collectors, Parmigiani Fleurier has slowly updated its sports watch catalog since 2021 when the Swiss brand introduced the “PF” line of watches . These PF models replaced previous versions, as is the case with the PF Tonda Sport Chronograph , which stepped in for the previous Tonda GT Line . This most recent refresh of the Tonda Sport Chronograph brings a fresh trio of luxurious colors.
These new models feel very much on trend with paler shades making the rounds these days, as well as with the rest of the 2024 Parmigiani catalog which blew us away at Watches and Wonders this year. Parmigiani is calling these new colors Milano Blue, Arctic Grey and London Grey, names evocative of entirely different locations united by a sense of adventure and/or sophistication. But what makes these new Tonda Sport Chronographs so special are rather subtle upgrades.
Consider, for example, the new guillouché dial, which refines the previous engraving pattern with a subtler clou triangulaire pattern. This new pattern is akin to a clous de Paris dial, also made of pyramids, which Audemars Piguet would call a tapisserie dial. But putting French semantics aside, we can agree that this Parmigiani guillouché pattern breathes more than the chunkier pyramid-grid dials out there, lending the watch a quietness that suits the desaturated colorways.
Further distinguishing these chronographs is the movement. Caliber PF-.
