One could say Patrick Lysaght has creating art down to a science. The artist was a senior electrical engineer and materials scientist for 17 years in Austin, Texas, before opening Entropy Gallery in Santa Fe. It’s part of a small arts district that the city refers to as the Siler Rufina Nexus.
Now Lysaght is celebrating five years of operation. Those who attend Entropy’s celebration this weekend will see Lysaght’s distinctive mix of multi-exposure photography, large-scale paintings, and sculptures. Entropy has seen some changes; it recently added Leah Barreras and Tatiana Kazakova to its staff and now hosts the Sandbox Music Series.
For the curious, entropy is defined in physics as “a thermodynamic quantity representing the unavailability of a system’s thermal energy for conversion into mechanical work, often interpreted as the degree of disorder or randomness in the system.” The more common definition is, “a gradual decline into disorder.” — Brian Sandford Who makes the best chili in New Mexico? Bragging rights will be on the line this weekend, when the New Mexico State Chili Championships and Southwest Regional Chili Championships will be held at Tesuque Casino.
The event, held by the International Chili Society, will send its winners to compete at the 57th World Championship Chili Cook-Off in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on September 27. All competitors at the cook-off are members of the International Chili Society. The chilis will be judged in four dist.
