Don and Betty first met each other in 1948 and would spend the next 70 years together. Don passed away on December 2, 2017. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his friends and family as well as traveling with Betty to nearly every state in the nation.

He also loved his hobby of woodworking, including the creation of beautiful canes for Wounded Warriors, one-of-a kind pens with wood from around the world, and toys for children at Christmas. Betty passed away on January 16, 2024, just one day after the 70th anniversary of her marriage to Don. Her greatest love was spending time with her friends and family.

She also loved to read and would often be working through three or four books at the same time. Betty was regarded as “the sweetest person in the room” by most of those who knew her. “To have laughed often and loved much, to have won the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, .

. . to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived.

This is to have succeeded.” Don and Betty succeeded in these ways and so many others. A memorial service will be held for Don and Betty Corder, former residents of Montrose, at 2 p.

m. on June 22, 2024. The service will be held at Montage Creek Assisted Living Center at 1968 Sunrise Drive, Montrose, CO.
