A beach in the North East known for its “mighty swathe” of soft sand has been revealed among the best in the UK that are dog-friendly. Bamburgh Beach near Alnwick in Northumberland featured in one of The Guardian’s latest travel guides by author Lotte Gross and was praised for having “ample space for dogs to run – even in the height of summer”. Some beaches across the region have strict rules imposed throughout the warmer months of the year, which means your furry pals aren’t always welcome to paddle during peak season.

But not at Bamburgh, where there’s also plenty of grassy dunes for your dogs to explore. @grazeandgorge Happy place 💭 #bamburgh #northumberland #northumberlandcoast #bamburghcastle #weekendrecap #autumn #beachday ♬ original sound - Graze and Gorge The Guardian commented: “The author of a new guide to dog-friendly days out selects ideal beaches for dog walkers year-round – plus places to stay nearby.” You can see all the best dog-friendly beaches in the UK here .
