A town in North Wales that has sometimes been overlooked and underrated has now been named one of the best places to live by the sea. The Sunday Times has curated a list of some of the top seaside places to live in the UK, featuring four Welsh locations. The newspaper has considered factors such as property prices, local amenities and historical significance to compile a list of Britain's finest coastal towns and villages.

They said seaside towns typically have lower pollution levels and a slower pace of life. But those looking to buy should be prepared to pay a premium, with the newspaper citing data from Savills estate agency that properties within 100m of the coast are priced on average over 20% higher than similar inland properties. This is certainly the case in North Wales - with sky high prices in places like Abersoch, Aberdyfi and Rhosneigr - often pushing local people out the market.

That accolade goes to Barmouth in Gwynedd , which is having something of a revival.
