Sign up to our free newsletter for the top North Wales stories sent straight to your e-mail Nine beaches in Wales have been singled out for their beauty and "secrecy". They are included in a list of 13 UK beaches that, viewed from a London perspective, are seen as being "off the beaten track". Locals and even holidaymakers may be surprised to learn the rundown includes beaches with "virtually no tourists" - true for some only in the off-season.



The list was compiled by The Express, which said: "Although a few of these iconic places can be reached by coach or car, others can only be accessed at certain times of the day or via precipitous footpaths." While those picked out are undeniably beautiful, not all are quite as inaccessible as The Express believes. Some are indeed "hidden away in remote coves" but few remain undiscovered and many can become quite busy in high summer.

Pick the right time, however, and you may have these beaches almost to yourself.
