. and Superman’s current motto is: “Truth, justice and a better tomorrow.” Either way, truth and justice are cornerstones for the man of steel.
Those two cornerstones seem to be under a bit of a threat these days. Truth and justice have been replaced in certain quarters by falsehoods and a peculiar word: “rigged.” To listen to one particular individual’s take on the aforementioned word is to hear him say that he can do no wrong (ever).
In his rendition, the deck is constantly stacked against him — and everything, from elections to court cases, is rigged if he loses. Of course, if he wins it’s a completely different story. Then all the systems are “beautiful.
” We’ve been watching this behavior play out for years. And it’s been defended by a host of folks. But what would happen if such behavior became even more universal, became the norm? Say, for example, that anyone running for any type of office continually trumpets that, if they lose, the results are rigged.
Or that kids taking exams vehemently protest that the exams are rigged if they don’t pass. How about if the defendants in any legal action blast the judge, the prosecutors, the jury and almost anyone else involved — and add that, if they lose, the trial is rigged?
