The Campbell River estuary's serene waters and dreamy sunsets are now more accessible than ever thanks to a new kayak rental service. Island Joy Rides is offering a unique opportunity for both tourists and locals to explore the stunning Campbell River estuary by offering kayak rentals at the playground at Tyee Spit. This new venture caters to paddlers of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced, and is suitable for ages 6 and up.
In addition to kayak rentals, Island Joy Rides will also offer guided Afternoon Paddles from 3 to 5 p.m. on select days.
These estuary tours are tide-dependent, so booking in advance is recommended to ensure availability and the best experience. The service promises a fresh perspective on the natural beauty of our area. If you have company this summer or are looking for something different to do with the family, this would be a fantastic experience.
The initiative has garnered support from the Wei Wai Kum First Nation and the City of Campbell River, reflecting a community-wide effort to enhance local tourism. Laurel Cronk, the owner of Island Joy Rides, has a long-standing history of promoting outdoor activities in Campbell River and the Comox Valley, where she has offered bicycle and kayak tours for 12 years. Her dedication to community involvement extends to her roles as Chair of the Campbellton Neighbourhood Association, an active member of the Rotary Club of Campbell River, and the spearhead of the Greenways Loop initiative.
