Seemingly out of nowhere, Apple TV+ has dropped a new sci-fi series, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Starring Parks and Recreation and The Office actress Rashida Jones , Sunny follows a woman named Suzie whose life takes a tragic turn when her husband and son disappear after a plane crash. She’s instead given a domestic robot, a walking, talking machine, that is ‘programmed’ just for her.
But the ten-part series looks like it goes from ‘weird’ to dark quickly, after Suzie is given the ‘gift’ of her robot. And while it’s clear she doesn’t want one to begin with, after hearing the robot was made by her husband, she begins to uncover some truths. The series, which is based on the book Dark Manual by Colin O’Sullivan, also stars Hidetoshi Nishijima and Joanna Sotomura playing Sunny.
Fans can’t wait to watch, with @AlexBayArea writing on Reddit: ‘This looks f**king awesome.’ ‘Gotta give it to AppleTV. They really make some weird s**t.
