Vadodara: A dissertation work of a student has helped M S University get a beautiful landscape. An MSc research student has converted a completely barren piece of land into a garden which will help future generation of students, teachers and staff connect with the green environs at the university campus. Under the guidance of Dr Urvashi Mishra, student Krishna Jayeshkumar Pradhanani had taken up the project through which she developed 13 functional and aesthetical elements for the garden of the Department of Family and Community Resource Management of MSU’s Faculty of Family and Community Sciences.

“We considered around 4,200 square feet land that was previously barren for the project because of its proximity to the faculty canteen and department library, making it convenient and beneficial for students at large,” said Mishra, assistant professor. After the land was identified, Krishna planned the detailed layout of the garden using a software while detailed drawings of functional and aesthetical elements were also prepared. “My approach was to focus on the balance of functionality as well as aesthetic appeal,” said Krishna, who later designed, procured raw materials, cleaned, processed and painted all the elements.

“To promote the concept of sustainability, reusing and recycling, all the elements that have been developed are from waste and second-hand materials,” said Krishna, who has incorporated a Bohemian theme which she says would stimulate creativity, enco.
