On June 13, the Zonta Club of Auburn held its award ceremony to present $5,700 in service grants, mini grants and scholarships to local service organizations, women-owned businesses and area students. These grants would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our members who do the fundraising. The work they do through service to others, advocating to end violence against women and providing educational opportunities to young women has a positive and direct ripple effect throughout our entire community.

We are also thankful for the generous support of our sponsors Nucor, the Katie Socci Memorial Fund, Savannah Bank and the Knights of Columbus, who made our March Lady Luck fundraiser a huge success! Family, neighbors, coworkers and our community stepped up in a big way to help us make a difference in the lives of women and girls here in Cayuga County and globally. Together we will continue to work toward our mission to "Build a Better World for Women and Girls." The Zonta Club of Auburn selected three local service organizations who share that mission.

The programs they provide off er women the support they need and the opportunities to thrive. The first service grant was presented to the Auburn Rescue Mission. Cyndi Vasile accepted on behalf of Gary Mann, regional program director.

Funding will be used to help support women in education and professionally. Funds will help to purchase appropriate clothing/uniforms, application fees, tuition or any other expense.
