In Midtown, New Yorkers and tourists looking for a place to unwind after a day of walking or taking a break from office buildings can now do so. Vornado Realty Trust and local officials cut the ribbon on Plaza33. Plaza33, located on 33rd Street and 7th Avenue in the heart of the Penn District, is a dynamic new public space where New Yorkers can sit and relax under the shade of trees i n the middle of the busy district.

The pedestrian park is lined with authentic New York restaurants and shops. “Plaza33 is the beating heart of the new Penn District, a destination where office workers can sit for lunch, where commuters can take a moment to pause, and where neighbors can come to connect,” said Steven Roth in a press release, chairman and CEO of Vornado Realty Trust. The space was developed through a public-private partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation.



“This is a beautiful addition to the city, and one that makes the entire neighborhood more welcoming and accessible,” he added. The promenade launched as a seasonal pilot program and it has transitioned into a permanent platform where special entertainment programming will eventually be offered. Designed by award-winning Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects, the public space is composed of trees, lush landscaping, circular stone benches and chairs and tables.

“Great public spaces are what make New York the best city in the world to live, work, and visit,” said Ydanis Rodriguez in a press relea.
