A stark warning has been issued by the Met Office as a 'wall of rain' was expected to drench the Midlands. Thunder storms were also likely as the weather takes a dramatic shift. Although Monday has got off to a bright and sunny start across the region, there's a "risk of torrential thundery downpours" this afternoon.

Heading into the evening, more heavy downpours were predicted, with thunder and lightning "possible". Despite expected highs of 18C, forecasters have said it would feel "cooler for most". A "breezy" night was also expected, with lows of 13C.
