With the win, the Mets cracked .500 for the first time in months, as the so-called “Grimace era” seems to be rolling on.
The Mets offense battered Yankees pitchers from the start of the game, and in the third inning, J.D. Martinez finally got the scoring started with an RBI single, followed by a two-run homer off Francisco Alvarez.
But it was Tyrone Taylor’s three run homer at the bottom of the sixth that gave the Mets a 10-2 lead, putting the win well out of reach for the Yankees. With the sweep, the Mets are 4-1 in their last five games and 9-2 in their last four series. They’ll try to keep the home crowd happy when they ho.
