Beth LaDove and Caitlin McVarish of Ground , a curated home and garden shop in Tiburon, suggest some pretty but functional décor. • Modern Mediterranean containers.

Although there are many other styles of pots at Ground, “as a landscape designer, I love the warm look of terra cotta, and clean “no-lip” designs lend a modern feel,” LaDove says. “The terra cotta pots look great clustered in groups of three with Mediterranean plants like citrus or olive trees, lavender, rosemary or similar plants.” The pots shown range from $17 to $110.

• McVarish, LaDove’s business partner at Ground who handles the interiors side of the business, says to find “a fun outdoor rug and some pillows to create a fresh outdoor room, and add a stocked bar cart to get the summer started.” Pillows, McVarish points out, can be changed seasonally to add new life to an existing space, and a rug sets the outline for yo.
