WATERBURY – Maria (Guerrera) Mancini, 85, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, June 17, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Donato Mancini of 64 years. Maria was born on April 12, 1939, in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy, a daughter of the late Luigi and Angelina (Longo) Guerrera.

In 1962 with her husband and her daughter, Maria moved to Montreal, Canada. After eight years, the three of them moved to the United States, first living in Bridgeport for 33 years, before settling in Waterbury in 2003. For the eight years in Montreal, Maria worked as a seamstress for a children’s garment factory and for her time in Bridgeport, she worked for 31 years as a seamstress for Lee’s Curtain Co.



until her retirement in 2001. Maria enjoyed gardening with her husband, canning her tomatoes, and making homemade sausage and capicollo; always sharing with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

She had a passion for cooking for her family, as well as baking cakes and lots of cookies. She loved her family, she enjoyed her three grandchildren, and was able to meet her great-grandson and great-granddaughter. Maria leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Ninetta Rinaldi and her husband Giuseppe of Waterbury; her three grandchildren, Robyn Rinaldi of Providence, R.

I., Joseph Rinaldi and his significant other, Emily Banagis, of New Bedford, Mass., and Gabriella Rinaldi of Waterbury.
