A beloved Mother of three boys and two grandsons, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Margie was born in Moorhead, MN on June 13, 1943 to Alfred and Elva (Singer) Ferris, and grew up on a farm in Baker/Barnesville, MN. Margie loved to spend her time at the lake surrounded by her friends, family, and grandchildren where she would make sure that everyone had enough food to eat and blankets to keep warm.

She was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, where she devoutly practiced her faith and received our Lord. She married Mark Hanson Sr.



in 1962 and later in life, Bob Sturdevant in 1991. Margie enjoyed endless games of solitaire and her weekly bingo night. Attending her sons/grandsons sporting events was a priority and cheering loudly for her favorite team, the Shanley Deacons, was a joy for “Grandma Boo.

” Beautiful, tough, and loving only begin to capture her spirit. Margie worked as Convention Director at the award-winning Fargo Holiday Inn for 25 plus years where she exemplified her gift of hospitality. In retirement she built and managed the Corner Cantina Restaurant, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Through her decades of work you couldn’t visit a small town in North Dakota where someone didn’t know her! Her home/cabin was always open to visitors and she loved long conversations filled with laughter. Aunt Margie was always receiving requests to bring her tuna macaroni salad and so enjoyed every family ce.
