Article content If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to add a little unexpected pop to your eyes then you’re definitely going to want to play with this season’s hottest beauty trend — coloured mascara. Coloured mascaras come in a variety of shades like blue, purple, red and green. They all exude a ’80’s nostalgia and will pack quite a punch.
So, I’m putting blue mascara to the test, with twist. While shopping for coloured mascara at the drugstore, I stumbled upon a brand called About-Face. I love using eyeshadow sticks and noticed that they have a wide range of colours.
I was especially drawn to this vibrant acid-yellow shade called Acidic. I applied it directly onto my eyelids and blended it up using my finger. I then used About-Face Shadowstick in Creature to line and define my eyes.
Tip: a great way to enhance your coloured mascara is to line the eyes with a matching eyeliner for a tone-on-tone effect. Alternatively, you can try wearing a contrasting eyeshadow, like I did above, to make your mascara pop. After curling my lashes, I coated them with L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara in Cobalt Blue.
I love this mascara and have been using it for years. It seems to delivers on it promises to building volume and thickness with no clumping or smudging, and it’s available in a variety of colours including Cobalt Blue, Deep Green and Deep Burgundy. Since the eyes are the focus, I opted for a clear gloss to pull the look together.
