The Solano County Fair — “the whipped cream in our coffee” — returns to the venerable old fairgrounds in Vallejo on Thursday for its 75th annual rendition, and fair CEO Tom Keaney is looking to add something special to your brew. “The fact is, you don’t absolutely need a fair in your life to get by, but it reminds us to disengage from social media and our phones and take time to enjoy the magic of life and a fair,” says Keaney. “It reminds people of their hopes and dreams as a kid.
We’re not as intense as a theme park, but we are a lot more intimate. “I’m hoping to have people get out of their heads and into their hearts.” The fair, running Thursday through Sunday, features three stages of entertainment along with familiar favorites and some new offerings.
