The Miss Namibia Organisation (MNO) announced this in Windhoek yesterday. Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company (LWDC) chief executive Fluksman Samuehl says the town is looking forward to hosting one of the biggest entertainment events in the country. He says Lüderitz is a historical town and he is pleased to be teaming up with such a historical beauty pageant.
“I believe our town is perfect for the hosting of this important national pageant. Our town is known for the value of its beautiful diamonds, like the beautiful finalists. This is a very proud moment for us.
“This platform will help us gain international exposure as the winners will represent the country on the international stage. We are looking forward to hosting the event,” Samuehl says. Stanley Similo, the director general of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, says the pageant is a national project and has to tour to other parts of the country.
According to him, Lüderitz is a great town for this year’s glamorous event. “This is a national event that has to go to all corners of our country. There is no place in Namibia that is more important than the other.
“If we had that thinking in our minds, it would be applying some form of discrimination. The pageants belong to the people,” Similo says. He says one of their key goals has always been to grow pageants aiming to uplift girls.
