A Saharan sand storm is set to batter the Love Island villa, with freak winds splattering the decor with a smothering of pink sand. Bosses are battening down the hatches in preparation for 70km per hour winds, which are carrying clouds of dust from the North African desert. The storms have caused carnage in mainland Portugal, with weather forecasts warning it is moving towards the Balearic islands, with Majorca on yellow alert for abnormally high temperatures today on Friday as it approaches.
The £2.5million villa is situated near the Sant Llorenç des Cardassa countryside area, which is set to be hit. A source said: “Bosses have spent millions kitting out the new villa, and after just a week of filming, it could all be sandblasted in this storm.
“Hopefully, it won’t take any of the brightly coloured paint off - producers said their aim was to give the villa an ‘Instagrammable’ vibe, so it needs to look pristine and perfect. There are stage hands and cleaners on standby to rectify any damage and get rid of all the sand, if it leaves nasty stains anywhere.” Other storms have already hit the villa, with Thursday night's episode seeing new bombshell Uma Jammeh take TOWIE’s Joey Essex to the Hideaway to get to know one another, which put his partner Samantha Kenney’s nose out of joint.
“I’m keeping my options open and talking to everyone,” Joey said. Another storm brewed when Ciaran Davies secretly snogged Harriett Blackmore, to the horror of Nicole Samuel.
