John Alford has been charged with sexual offences involving a child. The London's Burning and Grange Hill actor will go to court on December 2nd, where he will face four allegations of sexual activity with a child, as well as one of sexual assault and another of sexual assault by penetration. Under his real name John Shannon, the actor will face trial at St Albans Crown Court on December 2nd, with a pre-trial review scheduled a few weeks earlier in November at the same court.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police told the Mirror: "On Sunday 16 July, 2023, John Shannon, aged 51, from Islington, was charged with the following offences: Two counts of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with girl under the age of 16, two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16, assaulting a female 13 and over by penetration with a part of body / a thing, sexual assault on a female." They added: "The charges followed an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s specialist Sexual Offences Investigation Team into a report of sexual offences allegedly committed in April, 2022. He pleaded not guilty to all six charges at St Albans Crown court on Thursday 26 September, 2023.



He is due to appear for trial at St Albans Crown Court on Monday 2 December, which is scheduled to last for seven days." Alford is best known to fans for playing Robbie Wright in Grange Hill in the 1980s when he was just 13 years old. John Alford played Robbie for five years.
