If you hear a version of Fleetwood Mac’s guitar-based instrumental “Albatross,” see a teenager writing song lyrics, say, on a computer tablet, or another teen adjusting the volume on a recording console, then you may be near — or part of — a Live Music Center summer music camp in Vacaville. The center and store, at 874 Alamo Drive, with a studio for group classes and recitals, at 150 S. Orchard Ave.
, is tuning up for its annual series of summer music camps, which, according to business owner Megan Tucker, promises a memorable experience for budding musicians of all ages and genres. In a press statement, Tucker said the camps, held from mid-June to late July, “cater to a diverse range of musical interests, offering a unique blend of education and musical fun,” whether the camper be an aspiring lyricist or has the makings of a future rock ‘n’ roll star. This year, the center’s summer offerings include the following camps: • Songwriting Workshop.
Campers explore lyric writing, melody crafting, and song arrangement. • Swing Into Improv Camp. It is for jazz enthusiasts who want to hone their improvisation skills.
• Sound Recording and Engineering Camp. For those “with a keen interest in the technical aspects of music production” said Tucker, adding that it offers “a hands-on experience in the realm of audio recording, from setting up microphones to mixing tracks.” • Junior Rock Camp.
For the younger musicians, it provides a way for students ages.
