A JAW-DROPPING art installation is happening every day at midnight in Times Square this summer. Visitors to New York City have yet another must-see to add to their itinerary - the world’s largest and longest-running digital public art program in the heart of Times Square . Times Square Arts will be highlighting several artists’ work across 92 digital displays in the center of the square this summer.

The display begins at 11:57 pm and ends at midnight every day. Times Square Arts first began displaying digital art in 2012 as part of a program called Midnight Moment and has since featured over 100 artists on the Times Square big screens. The program showcases a different artist every month.



Midnight Moment has become a social media phenomenon, popping up on countless Instagram Stories and being featured in New York City guides on TikTok. This month, Brooklyn-based media artist Gabe Barcia-Colombo will be featured. His piece titled A Chorus features the faces of over 100 people who look as if they’re captivated by what’s in front of them.

Just as Times Square visitors will be taking pictures of the display, those in the display look as if they’re taking pictures of the visitors. “How does a city heal from being separated for so long, when so much of its interactions are in person, face to face,” Barcia-Colombo asked. “I created this idea after waiting for my first train ride post-pandemic.
