Line of Duty 'legend' paid a visit to a popular chippy in the beautiful Scots seaside town, Largs, over the weekend. The Greenock actor, 40, was spotted with his family enjoying what has been dubbed the "best fish and chips in Scotland" from , in North Ayrshire. Martin was beaming as he posed for a snap with staff members who have since taken to social media to praise the "amazing" actor.

The award-winning fish and chip shop wrote on Facebook: "The Fish Works Team were delighted to have a visit from @mrmartincompston at the weekend, it was a pleasure to serve you and your family. "Lovely to meet you all, not just an amazing actor but passionate Scotsman too", alongside two clapping hand emojis. Locals were equally buzzing to have the famous actor visit their town with one describing him as a "legend".



Another said: "He is amazing, as is our fish and chips." Praising the takeaway, a third added: "The best fish and chips in Scotland." It was recently reported that the Scots actor almost pulled out of his career defining role as Steve Arnott in the hit BBC police drama Line of Duty before his agent urged him to go through with the series.

Martin previously told The Big Issue: "When I was offered 'Line of Duty', I'd already been offered the film The Wee Man." He further elaborated: "And at the time my focus was really on The Wee Man because growing up on the west coast of Scotland, that story is so ingrained in the culture, it's like our version of The Godfather."
