- Kojokul Eshaliev, a 60-year-old resident of Jon-Aryk village in Talas district, breeds peacock pigeons. His profession is welder. "After the collapse of the Soviet Union and disbanding of collective farms, I started running a bee farm with 50 hives.
We receive over 1 ton of honey annually. This is our family's main source of income. Additionally, for the past 8 years, I work as a welder at a kindergarten," he said.
Kojokul Eshaliev said he loves birds since his early life. "For 20 years I breed peacock pigeons. They stand out with their beauty, especially the beauty of their tail.
I don't breed them to earn, I breed them for my soul. Every 16 days females lay one egg. Males take care of the nestlings.
When they grow older, they seek for a mate. They make pairs for life," he said. This breed of pigeons barely react to dangerous situations like car approaching, for example, he said.
"There are many interested in these birds. I sometimes present a pair for some," Eshaliev said. Kojokul Eshaliev is married and is a father of 2 sons.
He has 5 grandchildren..
