After an impressive run of receiving local and international awards, including a Grammy, sultry singer Tyla missed out on the three Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards she was nominated for at this year's ceremony after facing off against, among others, Taylor Swift. She was nominated in the Favourite Viral Song, Favourite Breakout Artist and Favourite Global Music Star categories, but the awards went to Sabrina Carpenter , Reneé Rapp and Taylor Swift, respectively. Despite missing out on the three awards, the Water hitmaker received the Best New Artist and Best International Act categories at the 2024 BET Awards earlier this month. The Johannesburg-born beauty might not have won any awards, but fellow South Africans Kairo Forbes and Biko's Manna are still in the running after being nominated in the Favourite African Kidfluencer category. Winners in this category will be announced in Johannesburg on Tuesday night during the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Africa celebration.
The broadcast will be at 15:00 on Wednesday, 17 July, on Nickelodeon (DStv 305). "If I were to win, I would dedicate my award to myself and everyone who voted for me. My dad would like that a lot," the nine-year-old daughter of DJ Zinhle and murdered rapper AKA told TshisaLIVE.
