Australia has always been one of Drew Barrymore’s favourite countries, and the feeling is mutual. When she visited Sydney in 1998, she was memorably swarmed by a crush of adoring fans. But when the Hollywood sweetheart arrives in Brisbane in just over two weeks, it will be her first time in the River City.

“I’m very excited to be there,” she told 9 News. As the Story Bridge caught her eye in the background of her video call, she added: “Really, you’re in such a beautiful setting. The Wanderlust True North event, An Evening With Drew Barrymore , is billed as an “intimate, candid evening filled with joy, laughter and inspiration”. She will be joined on stage by Australian media personalities Terri Irwin, Emma Watkins, Dannii Minogue, Baker Boy and Michael Klim. “I think, let’s just take off the armour,” Barrymore says.

“Let’s have those more real, humorous, in-depth conversations that do not have to be so heavy and serious. “We get into these fight-or-flight modes. How do we deal with that? How do we deal with everything in the world we cannot control?” The businesswoman and author also wants to dive into mental health and “taking on too much”.

“We try to prove we can do so many things, or we think that it makes us seem so capable when we can do.
