Korea's latest styles take center stage at 'Seoul Fashion Road' runway event

The finale of fashion show "Seoul Fashion Road" [SEOUL METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT] A sudden shower could not stop people from eagerly looking into the latest Korean fashion trends. Over 1,000 people gathered on the eastern side of Seokchon Lake in Songpa District, southern Seoul, to watch the first “Seoul Fashion Road" on Friday. The inaugural fashion event set up by the lake was organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to show off garments designed by Korean fashion designers. A total of 100 models, who donned Korean brands like MÜNN by designer Han Hyun-min, Wnderkammer by designer Shin Hye-young and Bmuet(te) by designers Seo Byun-mun and Um Ji-na, walked gracefully down the coral-colored outdoor runway measuring some 250 meters (820 feet). This was unlike other fashion shows where the front rows are reserved for influencers, celebrities and important buyers. Over 5,600 citizens competed to win seats to the free event. The selected citizens were very lucky, as the likelihood of getting seats stood at 11 to 1, the Seoul city government said. Prior to the fashion show, a classical music concert was held where the trio Layers Classic was showcased, just before drops of rain started to fall. [SEOUL METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT] The fashion show started with MÜNN’s collection, which reflected the brand’s philosophy of “making things unfamiliar.” It was followed by Wnderkammer’s 2024 fall and winter collection, which was inspired by a phrase in author Jack Kerouac’s novel "On the Road" (1957): “See you down the road.” Bmuet(te) was the last to come down the runway, showcasing its concept "Beautiful Nightmare." During the presentation, a sudden shower started to fall, but it did not deter the audience's love for fashion. The show went on and the audience stayed. [SEOUL METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT] For the finale, all the models assembled at the center of the runway with Lotte Tower and Lotte World behind them, creating a "panoramic scene," according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government. “Starting with ‘Seoul Fashion Road,’ various projects to promote Seoul’s tourist attractions and the value of K-fashion will be planned to make Seoul a ‘global fashion city’ that overseas tourists wants to visit to enjoy fashion content,” Jang Young-min of the Seoul city’s Creative Industry Planning Bureau said.
