Lucknow: The UP govt has taken up a project to develop Khanta picnic spot in Sonbhadra . Located in the Myorpur block, the place is a nature lovers ’ delight. A govt spokesperson said an MoU was signed to develop this area as a prime picnic destination a few months ago.
Subsequently, an action plan was drawn and its implementation is underway. “The UP govt’s initiative has led to a significant increase in footfall at major pilgrimage sites across the state with the development of comprehensive tourism facilities. Destinations endowed with natural beauty of the state are also being enhanced,” he said.
According to the action plan, the Khanta picnic spot will be equipped with various facilities, including a children’s play area and a modern gym which will have a fun walker, shoulder press, chest press, pendulum-cum-twister, fun cycle, ski trainer, step trainer, and tai-chi double. In the children’s play area, there will be swings like a double see-saw, playground slide, wheelchair swing and arc rubber belt swing. A selfie point will also be developed and benches will be installed for elders to enjoy the natural beauty.
Officials said that an expenditure of Rs 3.64 crore will be incurred on the construction and development works. “The UP Project Corporation Limited has invited applications to select an agency which can complete the construction and development work within 27 months,” the spokesperson stated.
