The loss of a good friend recently has left Kenny Chesney emotional. The country icon, 56, took to social media and posted a tribute to a close friend he made on the island of St. John, where he spends much of his time off the road.
“So a very hard goodbye to a close island friend, Curtney Chinnery AKA ‘The Ghost From Jost’,” Chesney wrote on his Instagram and Facebook page . “He was a part of island life for so many years. Someone I thought would just always be there.
” Accompanied with the post was a picture that showed Chinnery pointing to the sky while on the beach with blue waters serving as a backdrop. “He was so curious and full of imagination and one of the most creative human beings I’ve ever met. That’s how we connected.
Creativity,” Chesney continued. “He was a poet among poets and I’m gonna miss him for so many reasons. So goodbye my brother and thank you for your friendship and all the laughs,” he added, before signing off with the slogan, “GHOST OUT.
” In other photos in the post, Chesney can be seen posing with Chinnery. The two seemingly met on the small island of Jost Van Dyke Island, which sits only a few miles from St. John, where Chesney has had a home for years.
His time in the Virgin Islands inspired one of his more personal albums, 2013′s “ Life On A Rock ,” where he opens up about his “other life” spent on the beach, a far cry from the pressures of being a country superstar. Fans flocked to the comments of Chesney.
