46 days after starting his biking trip across Canada, Kelowna local Chris Luff has arrived back home with just four days left on his nearly 8,000 kilometre journey. The father of three left behind his family and flew to Newfoundland to start his incredible trek through the second largest country in the world. “I didn’t even have a full day to put my bike back together, get what supplies I needed and then get to Cape Spear, which is this beautiful light house, the furthest east in all of North America, got on my bike Carl and biked all the way back here.
Today is day 46 of riding. I've biked through 10 provinces now, none of the Territories unfortunately, but all 10 provinces. It’s surreal,” said Luff.
Along the way, Luff has been raising money and awareness for Canadian Feed the Children, an organization that provides proper nutrition to 30 different communities in need across the country. “I have raised $26,000. Originally my goal was $13,000, but I had already hit that by the time I hit Newfoundland.
I was still in Newfoundland, the first province. To represent the 30 communities, I bumped it up to $30,000, so I am $4,000 away with four days left of my ride, so (I’m) wanting to push that last little bit into the rest of June to get to that goal,” added Luff. Averaging 160 kilometres per day, Luff says he’s in the best shape of his life and that this giant trek has taught him that anything is possible.
“Don’t limit yourself, like stretch your limits, test.
