Kelly Stafford has apologized to Joe Cox and his family after they were dragged into a sex scandal. The wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew had previously made comments regarding a relationship she had with one of the NFL ’s backup quarterbacks. Kelly sent the internet into a frenzy last week after she made comments that she once dated her husband's backup quarterback while at college in Georgia in an effort to make him jealous.
Kelly didn’t name the player publicly and speculation over his identity ran wild. Speaking on the Off The Vine podcast, Kelly revealed: “I dated the backup to ---- him off, which worked — he was the bad boy too. Matthew’s so sweet and a Southern gentleman and all that stuff.
And the backup was the complete opposite, and it upset him." During Stafford’s time playing for the Bulldogs, he played in front of Joe Tereshinski, A.J Bryant, Mohamed Massaquoi and Cox.
However, Cox was the only one to be in Athens during all three of Stafford’s seasons - prompting fans and internet detective wannabes to assume it was him who Kelly was referring to.
